Residency
Benefit from a change of scenery, release from daily responsibilities, a greater connection to self, inspiring conversation, immersion in nature, and a supportive creative community.
Our Program
Cloud Collective Residency builds meaningful connections between makers, their work, and their communities. Our residents curate an experience that best suits their creative growth. Each of our residents comes away with a renewed sense of creative possibility: in the value of their work and its importance to the world.
Your calling is to create. Our calling is to support you while you do.

Cloud House
With lots of space and personality, Cloud House was destined to be a space of gathering. Built in 1920, it’s a perfect locus for creative work with its airy, spacious rooms, each with tall windows that let the light in and the breeze waft through. Cloud House also has several intimate nooks for solo work or cozy conversation sprinkled throughout, and a breezy screened porch that’s amply utilized in fine weather.
Cloud House sits on a sunny corner nestled in a garden of perennial flowers and trees that provide shade and shelter for numerous songbirds. The garden puts on a color show year-round and offers sanctuary and inspiration to creatives alike.
Each resident is provided with their own room with en suite facilities and dedicated working space. Work can also be done in the common areas, including the screened porch and garden.
Food is provided as part of a residency. We know the important role that healthful, nourishing meals play in the process of making, and accordingly, we stock our kitchen with fresh, organic grocery staples.
Breakfast and lunch are typically self-serve, with dinner often being a communal meal eaten around the dining table that has been in Meg’s family for generations. Dinners are a great opportunity to spend time together as a household and share ideas.
Asheville and Beyond
Cloud House is located a block away from the cafés, bookstores, sandwich shops, and produce markets of Haywood Road. Get everything you need there, or adventure into other parts of town.
From stately Biltmore, to galleries showing a wide variety of art, several museums, tons of restaurants, a mélange of shops, and lively nightlife and events, Asheville is full of inspiration and goings on—and it’s all just a short distance from here at Cloud House.
Here are just a few of our most beloved walk-able spots:
If the solitude and serenity of nature fuels your artistic practice, then the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina are a must-see. There are tons of hiking trails throughout western North Carolina, including the Appalachian Trail and the Art Loeb. There are opportunities for rock climbing, mountain biking, paddling, or just sitting and enjoying the view—landscapes and adventure right out our back door.
